Terry Craven earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology and is currently a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern (#46118) under the supervision of Dr. Nick Zirpolo (PSY 11597) at the Integrated Healing Arts Center in Palo Alto. He served as a volunteer Chaplin at Stanford Hospital and at a local Hospice and in central Massachusetts, taught meditation in the San Mateo County Jail, and led Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction groups. Life experience as a parent and work at a local teenage counseling agency has led him to focus on adolescent boys and/or their parents.
"As a counselor I tend to be active and involved, sometimes confrontive as a concerned friend might. I have much career planning/change experience and adopted different life styles such as becoming a 55 year-old intern. I like to work with couples to address the development of commitment and intimacy. Much of the work I do with clients is informed by years of practice in Buddhist centers. The practices I learned there are directly applicable to this work. These skills can give us new perspectives from which our lives become more immediate and satisfying."
